We at ESU Scotland were very excited at being given the opportunity to host the last World Members’ Conference in Edinburgh in September 2008. Over 250 delegates from 31 countries attended.

The English-Speaking Union Scotland is delighted to have worked with many organisations over the past few years. For more detailed information about our sponsors and partners, please go to the Sponsors & Partners page.

In partnership with Learning and Teaching Scotland ESU Scotland has developed comprehensive online materials for teachers about using debate in the classroom and in debating societies. To learn more about these materials, please go to the ESU LTS Debates Materials page. To go directly to the online materials, please click here.

We have also developed a creative writing resource pack with lots of ideas for looking at art and getting writing. This is useful for teachers, but also anyone interested in writing and in the competition. Please download it and have a look!

Over the last couple of years, ESU Scotland has tried to make its online present more robust. On Facebook we have an ESU Scotland group, a Glasgow Branch Group, and an ESU Scotland EFL group. It's very easy to join by signing up to Facebook. We also have a Twitter account.
We publicise our events via these pages and they are a great way of keeping in touch with the many students who engage with us through debating clubs and other societies.

The English-Speaking Union is represented in over 50 countries worldwide. For more information about the ESU family and links to the websites of other ESUs, please go to the ESU International page.
